North Bay after AvCon
Many of you may be aware that both Michael Mahonen (Gus Pike) and David Fox (Clive Pettibone)
will be appearing together in a production of William Shakespeare's final play, The Tempest,
for the Nipissing Stage Company. David will be performing the show's lead role, Prospero, while Michael
will be appearing as Stephano, one of Prospero's enemies. The show opens on Monday, July 25, 2005 and runs
through Sunday, August 7 and will be presented in an outdoor theatre on the shores of Lake Nipissing
in North Bay, Ontario.
We would like to make AvCon attendees aware that there will be performances of Tempest the weekend of
AvCon, on the following Monday, and throughout the rest of that week. While AvCon is unable to sponsor
an official trip to Michael and David's show, members of the committee are planning to attend the Monday performance.
We are interested in putting together a group of people from AvCon who would like to see this show.
While we cannot promise that everyone will have a chance to speak with the actors following the performance,
Michael has graciously offered to meet with people and sign autographs.
Since North Bay is approximately three hours from Toronto by car, we are aware that transportation to and
from the play could be troublesome. Because we know that many fans will want to see Michael and David live,
the committee will be facilitating the transportation process in the following way:
Any AvCon attendee wishing to attend The Tempest and who is also willing to carpool people in his or
her vehicle must notify the committee at the registration desk at AvCon. We need to know how many people
you are willing/able to take in your car. If you commit your vehicle to carpooling, we will place your
name on a sign-up sheet that will be displayed throughout AvCon. We also will be asking you to introduce
yourselves to the assembled attendees so that the people who will be riding with you will know who you are.
For those of you who will be signing up to ride with other attendees, you must place your name on a sign-up
sheet by the time AvCon ends on Sunday evening. After you sign on to a car, it will be up to you to i
ntroduce yourselves to your ride and to figure out pick-up and drop-off arrangements for the trip up to
North Bay on Monday. Please be aware that your ride may ask you to help out with gas.
